How to set up Gmail on iPhone

If you already have an iPhone and want to read mail from Gmail on your phone you must follow these simple instructions to configure.


Steps to set up Gmail on iPhone.

How first step to configure gmail in an iPhone must enable IMAP in your Gmail account of follows:

  • Access your Gmail account.
  • Click settings at the top of any Gmail page.
  • Click forwarding and POP/IMAP mail.
  • Select Enable IMAP.
  • Finally click on save changes

Then you must configure iPhone for Gmail:

  • Press settings (Settings).
  • Press email (Mail).
  • Press Add account (Add Account).
  • Press others (Other).

How to set up Gmail on iPhone

(Note: you do not click Gmail; if you do, you qualifying POP rather than IMAP.) We are aware of this issue and are currently working to offer you a more intuitive Gmail for the iPhone configuration).

Make sure that:

  • The IMAP tab is highlighted
  • The host name is imap.gmail.com
  • Your user name is your full Gmail address, including “@gmail.com”
  • For outgoing mail (SMTP) server, the host name is smtp.gmail.com
  • Press save (Save).

If you’ve done everything right you can go to setting > your_gmail_IMAP_ > advanced options and you should see something like this:

  • Incoming configuration
  • Use SSL: Enabled (ON)
  • Authentication: password
  • Server port: 993
  • Outgoing configuration
  • Use SSL: Enabled (ON)
  • Authentication: password
  • (Port Server) server port: 587
